Agtasker Back in July, Tiaan Stals contributed a brilliant idea in his crowdicity post “AgTasker - exporting the knowledge of Australian Agriculture students”. I want to bring the idea to life, but with a few tweaks and implementations that could be feasible in its infant stages. Below is a proposal that is specific to FarmEd but I hope in the future, this could be a realistic way to outsource for other tasks. Basic concept To refresh everyone’s memory without getting into the...

The final week of project was a massive week for the Fuel team. We smashed our monthly goal which was to test our MVP in a village. Despite our charcoal briquette prototype not being ready for testing in the villages, our rocket stove was a great success. To date, we still do not have an agreed upon name for Rocket Stove, but that is definitely underway. Cookstove Prototype: For our cookstove prototype, we were able to use spare parts found around town and a local handyman was able...

Having decided upon our course of action through the ideation feasibility matrix, the fuel assessment team spent a decent amount of time brainstorming how we were going to get a MVP up and running. Since we were running on a time crunch, as well as operating on a limited budget, improvisation was required. While in town on a resource run, our team members ran into a guy who knew a guy who basically does everything (including fix refrigerators - Jimmy, we still have his number). After...

The Fuel team in July is currently engaged in the prototype stage of Design Thinking after Empathising with Fijian villages, Defining the problem and Ideating solutions. One prototype we are developing is the agricultural waste briquette following the work of the previous team. The charcoal briquette is made from agricultural waste such as corn husk, sugar cane by-product and other plant based leftovers around the farm. This is particularly advantageous for the inland fijian villages...

The Fuel team in July is currently engaged in the prototype stage of Design Thinking after Empathising with Fijian villages, Defining the problem and Ideating solutions. One prototype we are developing is a rocket stove designed by the team. We have considered potential cookstove pathways such as an Envirofit wood cookstove, an Envirofit charcoal cookstove, a Potential Energy Berkeley cookstove and a chulha (clay stove). We have taken elements from each into a design we can build with...

Coming into week 2 after an epic first week, jam packed with village visits, the Fiji Fuel Assessment Team were overwhelmed with necessary tasks in order to move into the next phase of prototyping. Being an assessment project, there is a lack of clear direction and thus, we felt it was essential to establish a system that would help us achieve our month goal. In order to manage our tasks and have a clear outline of the project for July, the team came up with the use of a Feature Driven...
