Agricultural Assessment team is wrapping up for another month in Timor-Leste. Its been another incredible time on project and it’s ridiculous to reflect on what can be achieved in as little as two months from the projects beginning. The team has been small but fierce with three trekkers smashing out goals like its nothing. The main focus for the month was to continue understanding the supply chain in Timor as well as develop and execute steps towards implementing a version of FarmEd...

Timor ERS is all systems go at the moment, currently operating as a recyclables collection service for 10 hotels and restaurants within the Dili area with several promising EOIs lined up. While we are stoked with the ongoing progress of the collection service, one thing we are still working towards is finding a sustainable and feasible end-use for the collected plastic and glass (aluminium is easy as there are several metal recycling companies in Dili). We are still intending to export...

Work Update

After a month of living and breathing the WISI project, the February team is in the process of wrapping up our work and preparing to hand over to the next team. It’s been an intense yet extremely rewarding month of working hard, making big calls and being put into unfamiliar territory. The WISI team has embraced these elements and as such has been rewarded with promising progression of the project.   INSURANCE MODEL The proposed insurance plan works on a similar principle to the...

Our team here in Dili is seeking advice on piloting our program. Despite the overall positive response from surveying, it had become a trend that our initial subscription based model was met with confusion in the community. Despite avoiding using the word insurance ourselves, many people were confused with ‘subscription’ and linked the project to insurance on their own accord - leading to further confusion. Max, one of the UNTL interns who has been working closely with our project for...

Work Update

At the end of week 2 we completed a design activity where we broke down our project structure into its key components and specified exactly what actions need to be put in place and what relationships to maintain and develop to move forward with our pilot program. The components included facilities and plumbers, the hub, customers, supplies and parts and subscription model. In regards to the subscription model in particular, we discussed the matter in depth and may potentially have a pivot...

Work Update

It is now week 2 of project and our team is hustlin hard. We are still conducting daily surveys to improve our understanding on Dili’s water infrastructure, current systems and companies involved with infrastructure and the Timorese community as a whole. Using our collected data in conjunction with the data and business model from previous teams we are feeling confident we will be able to develop a successful pilot program ASAP. Since our last update we have delved deeper into...

Work Update

Hello from the February team! It is now the last day of week 1 of project and it’s all happening. After spending a couple of days catching up with the great work from the December and January team, we are now finalising our project structure. Following on from the work of the previous teams, we were hoping to receive some feedback for our current model.   ‘PLUBER’ but not. . - After conducting surveys within several communities the initial ‘Pluber’ platform was deemed...
