Adopted Experiment

[ADOPTED EXPERIMENT]: Hidden Hunger Malawi - Tech Based vs Paper Based comparison: Solution / Utility Testing - January 2019

CONTENT

Lean Phase: Solution / Utility Testing

Assumption: Malawian mothers would prefer a tech based solution to a paper based solution

Purpose: To confirm assumption that a tech based solution is the prefered way to distribute the solution

Time Box: February Weeks 2-3

Success Metric: Percentage of people who would prefer a tech based solution to a paper based solution.

CRITERIA

Green Light: Assumption confirmed. Allows both PEV and WSU to proceed with a tech based solution. Proceed with False Door testing.

Success point: 60% of sources confirm that they would prefer a tech based solution over a paper based

Orange Light: 30-60% confirm assumption that a tech based solution is prefered. Understand factors that contribute to mixed results, such as access to tech based device/ simplicity of paper based. Gives possibility to distributing both a paper and tech based solution.

Red Light: The research contradicts our assumption & suggests that mothers would prefer a paper based solution. Revise experiment.

Failure Point: Below 30% of people say a Tech based solution is prefered to a Paper based solution

Experiment build:

  1. Become familiar with both a tech-based and a paper-based process and be confident in explaining both

  2. Organize meeting mothers of young children in a new location

  3. Prepare 50 surveys translated into Chichewa to hand to mothers and gather the following data:

  • Previous interaction with PE
  • Info about self, children and dependents
  • Diet information (have nutritional information prepared)
  • Food sourcing
  • Previous knowledge on nutrition and its priority
  • How much and what do you and your family eat
  • Household health and daily energy levels
  • Income
  • Are they currently seeking a solution
  • Do they have access to technology and what type
  • Paper or tech based preference

    4. Ask if customer would like a follow up when the solution is stronger and get information

    5. Record answers and data points

    6. Analyse data and determine success as per the metric
