Value Proposition

[Unique Value Proposition]: FarmEd Timor-Leste

Lean phase: Unique Value Proposition

The unique value proposition of FarmEd in Timor-Leste is to provide timely and tailored agricultural information to farmers. This information aims to mitigate the problems faced by the farmers in regards to pest and diseases by providing advice on natural to chemical-based solutions.

The unique value proposition of FarmEd on a smaller scale is essentially to provide a digital platform for farmers to receive agricultural advice and information. This education aims to mitigate the problems faced by the farmers, thus helping them to independently manage seasonal variation, harvest scheduling, and pest control. This platform will be of value due to its ease and accessibility to farmers.

Big Picture

The further development of the FarmEd application in Timor-Leste has the potential of meeting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals:

1. End poverty in all its forms everywhere

2. End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture

On a larger scale FarmEd’s unique value proposition is to increase food security by creating a more sustainable food chain, to stimulate the Timorese economy (through increased food production), and to increase the overall nutritional health of the Timorese by addressing their problems with education for a sustainable solution.

For individual farmers,  the impact will be reflected in less stress over their food security, a potential for more income, which could bring greater opportunities for them and their families.

Next moves

With further development of the application, farmers will potentially have timely and tailored information in regards to issues surrounding crop yield, soil, market understanding, weather, livestock, crop choice and irrigation as well as pests and diseases. This will allow farmers to produce higher quality crops year round. For this to be achieved it is crucial for the continued development of rapport between Project Everest Ventures (PEV) and the Timorese communities.
