Lean Phase: Supply Chain and Key Activities

Assumption:

1. That there are multiple customer segments in villages that we can target effectively in different ways, increasing the reach of our product,

2. That there is a customer segment that will be willing to buy the stoves from retail stores in urban town.

Time Box: 8 weeks

Key Metrics:

20 stoves sold by the end of summer through RB Patel, Homemakers and Shop 2 Save

Success Criteria

Green Light Point – 100% of the stoves sold through retailers

Green Light Proceed:  Solidify the distribution channel by setting up an autonomous ordering and delivery system. Potentially hiring an employee to further implement the channel and testing it again with other retail stores

Orange Light Point -  40% - 100% of the stoves sold through retailers

Orange Light optimise:  increasing marketing material, providing more information on the stoves and lowering the price point. Working with retailers to improve marketing techniques.

Red Light Point – Less than 40% of the stoves sold through retailers

Red Light Failure: remove the stoves from that store or particular branch and move on to repeating this test with other retail stores.

Experiment build:

  1. 20 stoves to be manufactured through Lincoln Refrigerants LTD that includes raw materials, manufacturing and painting and branding of the stoves.

  2. Printing of user manuals, to ensure consistent quality

  3. 15 stoves to be sold as a one off to RB Patel, 3 stoves to Shop 2 Save and 2 stoves to Homemakers

  4. RB Patel to pick stoves up from Suva location (Lincoln) and move 5 stoves each to their Sigatoka, Labassa and Namosi locations. Shop 2 Save has 3 stoves and Homemakers has 2 stoves in Sigatoka store.

  5. Basic information about customer segments (name, gender, location and price point) will be recorded by RB Patel, whilst detailed information about customer segments to be recorded through a google form link provided in the user manual (http://bit.ly/BukaStove).
