Adopted Experiment

[Experiment Adopted]: Village Banks (1/4) - Records

Lean Phase: Channel Testing

Assumptions: Village banks have a standardised system of record keeping that tracks:
1. Customer ID
2. Loan amount
3. Length of loan
4. Interest charged over the length of the loan
5. Whether the customer repaid or defaulted on their loan

Time Period: 1 week (or time taken to survey 6-8 village banks)

Success Metrics:
1. Existence of a record keeping system
2. Completeness/consistency of the system

Criteria:
Success Point: 70% + village banks have a record keeping system, and 50% + have reliable and complete records (i.e. tracks all five criteria mentioned above)
Green Light: proceed to Margin Analysis experiment
Orange Light Point: 50-70% of village banks have a record keeping system, but only 30-50% have reliable and complete records
Orange Light: understand why records are incomplete or unreliable? How do successful village banks do it?
Failure Point: less than 50% of village banks have a record keeping system, or <30% have reliable and complete records
Red Light: look at alternative channels of servicing consumers’ financing needs

Experiment Build:
1. Create a survey based on the decision matrix
2. Identify village banks to validate assumptions with
3. Organise village visits
4. Execute survey/decision matrix
5. Measure results and post experiment results
