[Idea/Concept Not Complete]: FarmEd Timor - Connecting Farmers - July18

The aim of FarmEd in Timor-Leste has been to implement platforms that allow for farmers to receive advanced information and consultation regarding the agricultural issues that they face. One of the suggested ideas for this is a Chat Bot. This is a strong idea that leverages the exponential rate at which AI can operate and conduct machine learning, and such an idea will still be considered into the future.

However, upon empathising with local populations, there has been an unexpected, albeit exciting, level in the uptake of not just smartphone technology, but also social media. Facebook is of significant popularity in Timor-Leste, and offers itself as a valuable medium through which to conduct a FarmEd app MVP.

Beyond exclusively thinking of FarmEd as a Chat Bot service, perhaps FarmEd could be a "LinkedIn of farming" type platform that allows for broad levels of interaction between different farmers and agricultural experts, both locally and globally. This caters to the community spirit that is evident in Timorese culture, and allows for an online platform that can function by itself simply through large scale user interactions.

This can still work in conjunction with a Chat Bot service, which could simply be a part of this idea. However, I would be interested to see what others think of this Linkedin style of online interaction and education.

What are your thoughts?
