Project Everest

Proposal (Operational/Other)

Addressing the world - dividing the world into a 3x3

In developing countries, accurate addresses are hard to come by. Whether you're trying to find a customer you had a previous interaction with, meeting up with a potential business partner, or reporting a Pri-call - it is hard to communicate your location where streets are unnamed and every street corner looks very similar. Furthermore, currently, there are 4 billion people without an address.

A UK-based startup, What3Words has revolutionised this space by dividing the world into 3m by 3m squares, and assigning each of them a unique 3-word combination. Have a play around with it to see how it works.

I think there is a lot of potential application of this technology for projects, especially for customer relationship management. The great thing about this app is that it also works offline - so it'll keep working when you're in a remote village without a reliable connection. I'd be interested to see how this could be incorporated in July and beyond.

Really into this will. There is also a really concise effective TED video about What3Words.

This is an idea that would make sense to test over July. PEV is in need of a standard mapping software as different teams are using Google and MapsMe for example.

Mitch this would be interesting in regards to your current maps SOP and how this could be the link between Google MyMaps and Maps.me
