Adopted Experiment

[PROPOSED EXPERIMENT] Currency Test 01, Female Sanitation and Hygiene Malawi December 2019

Lean Phase: MVP

Purpose: To establish if the early adopter customer segment are willing to pay for a solution.

Assumption: Women will be willing to pay for a menstrual item that addresses the problems they experience with their current material

 Time Box:  2 weeks  

Success Metric: 60% of the early adopter customer segment approached are willing to pay for the MVP and participate in utility test.

Criteria

Green Light: Proceed to conduct utility test

Success point: More than 60% of women approached pay for the MVP.

Orange light: Assess responses and feedback from women who are not willing to pay for the MVP, iterate and continue currency testing.

Failure point:  Less than 20% of women approached are willing to pay for the MVP

Red Light: Reassess problem and customer segment.

Experiment Build:

Pre-experiment:

  • Develop sales pitch (follow 7 steps of sales)
  • Determine price for MVP ( Deposit, 2nd & 3rd payment)
  • Organise community meeting through chief with previously engaged with customer segment (eg, village bank members, women from Jiya, Kampala, Nancholi or Kantukule)
  • Meet with village chiefs to explain the intent and ask permission, include cost established price point so it can be communicated to attendants prior to the meeting
  • Prepare required paperwork for sales
  • Prepare spread-sheet to record customer details

During the experiment:

  • Deliver predetermined sales pitch to a minimum of 40 women
  • Demonstrate features and how to use MVP 
  • Team members to be stationed around the room/space to complete sales post pitch
  • Following CTA, direct interested customers to approach team members to place down a deposit for the product 
  • Record customers details
  • Provide the customer with a receipt 
  • Record details of EOI’s who are unable to afford the product

Post-experiment

  • Women who have put down a deposit will meet the following week to receive the cup ( requiring second payment to be made) 
  • Women will receive training on how to use/clean product 
  • Record and analyse observations and feedback
