Lean Phase: Solution

Assumption: Farmers are actively seeking solutions and advice related to the core pest and disease function of the app.

Time Box: 3 weeks

Key Metrics: Percentage of questions related to the core pests and diseases app

Success point: More than 60% of farmers ask questions related to the functionality

Green Light:

  • Continue with sales and pitching of the app
  • Move on to utility and solution testing of new functions of the app

Orange Light range: 30-60% of farmers ask questions related to the core pests and disease function

 Orange Light:

  • Continue sales of app
  • Identify why people are asking other questions not relevant to the core pest and disease function
  • Evaluate pitching technique, if the farmers understand the function of the app
  • Identify other problems farmers have and the functions they might like

Failure point: Less than 30% of farmers ask questions relevant to the core pests and diseases function of the app

 Red Light:

  • Identify other problems farmers have and the functions they might like
  • Survey farmers on pest and disease knowledge and practices
  • Develop a new feature
  • Re-evaluate app utility

Experiment Build:

Pre-departure

  • Write survey asking farmers about problems they may have
  • Collect information from utility testing of questions farmers are asking and understand their problems
  • Ensure all trekkers understand the context behind specific villages prior to entry and encounter using HubSpot as a reference

 Encounter

  • Ensure farmers understand function and how to use the app
  • Conduct survey on problems farmers have
  • Analyse data and questions collected through utility testing

 Post-encounter

  • Record all survey results and features farmers may be interested in
  • Analyse data and format so can be easily understood by future trekker

Creating Surveys – Stage by Stage break down:

STAGE 1

Village visit

(More Sales oriented)

STAGE 2

Receiving Qs and Sending As

STAGE 3

Assess Implementation

(More survey oriented)

Currency Testing

-        Ask qualifying Qs (i.e. are they a farmer? Do they have pest and disease problems?) – ‘blueprint’ of how to access early adopters

-        Make sales

NONE

-        Want to subscribe to the app for another month

-        Did they recommend to anyone?  How many?

Utility Testing

-        Can they download the app

-        Are they using the app

-        Quality of info. we receive

-        Can we answer the Qs they send?

-        Asking for more info.

-        Have they been able to implement advice? à Access to resources?

Solution Testing

NONE

-        Sending Qs related to core functions of app

-        Q’s about non-core function OR to FB

-        Why didn’t Qs relate to core function?

-        What Qs do they ask?
