[PROPOSED EXPERIMENT]: Problem Definition, Customer Segment | Waste Fiji July 2019

Lean Phase: Customer Segment

Assumption: There is a group of people in Fiji (that may include coastal villagers, inland villagers, shop owners, market stall holders, Valley Road farmers, Native Fijians or Indo-Fijians, in the Sigatoka area or between Nadi and Suva) that identify waste management as a problem and seek to find a solution.

Time Period: 3 weeks

Metric: Percentage of each Fijian demographic that identify waste management as a problem they are seeking a solution for. Three demographics/customer segments to be tested, with a sample size of 30 in each are:

- urban 

- coastal rural individuals

- inland rural individuals

Criteria:

Green Light: Proceed with writing a Customer Segment Black Label and create an experiment to define the current Problem and Solutions.

Success Point: Averaged across customer segments, 33% of Fijians surveyed identify waste management as a problem they are seeking a solution for.

Orange Light: Refine the proposed customer segment.

Failure Point: Averaged across customer segments, 10% of Fijians surveyed identify waste management as a problem they are seeking a solution for.

Red Light: Redefine customer segment entirely as a result of insights from the conducted experiment and from previous research.

Experiment Build:

  • Design and collect surveys
  • Do cross sectional analysis of customer segments pains and gains
  • Define customer segment and archetypes
  • Define problem and possible solutions

How many people do you think need to be surveyed in this? And how many segments ideally should be looked into from the ones mentioned above?

I made some slight changes to address customer segment definition and number of data points to achieve a significant dataset.
