Lean Phase: Customer Segment & Problem

Assumption:  That small farm owners are interested in a solution to low crop yield.

Results:
Channel 1: Village meeting with farmers in Jumtha

15 farmers Pablo claimed to have spoken to about the event
9 farmers turned up to event

A green light has been achieved with 60.0%. This success rate is at the success metric of 60%.
Comments from your conduct of event: everyone who turned up was interested in increasing their crop yields and spoke of the issues they had with incomes. Many asked questions of the trekkers about what they were doing and what specifically they were doing in the farming space.
*There was an undertone of annoyance from the farmers as they expected that they would receive something for turning up. They didn’t feel that there was any reason for the event.

Channel 2: Face to face offer testing at farmers produce markets

Of approximately 55 stalls at the market you visited the team approached 22 store vendors who were selling produce and of the 17 whom confirmed they grow their own produce to sell 5 of them were interested in learning more.

A green light has been achieved with 29%. This rate is above the success metric of 10%.

General Comments: Those engaged in selling produce at the stalls were not conducting any behaviour that would indicate that they are Early Adopters given that they were not paying for any solution to the identified problem.

Channel 3: Face to face offer testing at agriculture supply stores

82 people on average walked into the store each day with 51 on average purchasing products and 13 on average converted to providing their details.

An orange light has been achieved with 15.8%.

Comments: there was a lot of engagement from those who the team spoke to but a lot of customers were in DIY home care and larger agricultural pursuits.

Validated Learning: Results confirm that small farm owners are interested in a solution to low crop yield.

Next Move: The next experiment to be conducted is currency testing
